Founded in 1975, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Japan (CCCJ) is a not-for-profit private membership organisation dedicated to strengthening business and commercial relations between Canada and Japan.
Today, the CCCJ brings together 400+ members across 35+ business sectors, representing Canadian, Japanese and international companies, entrepreneurs and professionals with connections to Canada and Japan. As the longest-serving Canadian Chamber in Asia, the CCCJ provides a platform for members to build valuable connections, exchange knowledge, promote their businesses and engage with the wider Canada-Japan business community.
OUR MANDATE
- Promotes the development of commerce between Canada and Japan;
- Promotes measures to benefit and protect the interests in Japan of companies and citizens of Canada;
Represents various opinions of the business community of Canada and Japan regarding trade, commerce, finance, industry and related matters; - Collects and disseminates among its members statistical data and other information concerning commerce or other undertakings of interest to them;
- Associates and cooperates with other organizations sharing mutual interests;
- Promotes facilities for social networking among members and holds periodic functions of a social nature to promote friendship
- among Canadians and others in Japan; and
- Does any and all other things incidental or related to the above objectives.
OUR HISTORY
In the mid-1970s, a small group of Canadians recognised the need for a stronger and more organised presence for Canadian business in Japan. They came together to establish the Canadian Businessmen’s Association, the organisation that would later become the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Japan. While our membership and activities have grown considerably since 1975, our purpose remains the same: bringing the Canadian and Japanese business communities closer together and creating opportunities for our members to connect, grow and succeed.
